Colors of the Caribbean is true taste of the Caribbean and a celebration of Caribbean culture. June, Caribbean American heritage Month, gives us an opportunity to showcase all the region has to offer – food, arts and craft, commerce, entertainment, culture and family.
Colors of the Caribbean, is a festival presented by Caribbean American Heritage FloridaPatrons are welcomed by the live Junkanoo band and the sweet sound of steelpan as they visit the many arts and craft and business booths throughout the event. With an abundance of food from different Caribbean islands, you are sure to find something to satisfy your curious palette. From the popular bahamain Conch salad, to that authentic Trinidadian curry to the heat of the Jamaican Jerk Chicken and tasty Haitian griot, no one leaves hungry.
Families are sure to get there early for the kids to enjoy the YMCA Activity Zone. The zone features rock climbing, soccer, gymnastics, diva camp, and water activities. Be sure to walk with a change of clothes for the kids…they’re going to get wet.
Live international Caribbean bands provide the soundtrack to a day packed of energy, positivity and Caribbean love. Acts like David Rudder, Marcia Griffiths, Kes and the Band, Wayne Wonder, MIDNITE, Ricardo Dru, Inner Circle, Kevin Lyttle and Ricki Jai have all performed on our stage and brought the Caribbean vibes filling the audience with the sounds of the islands.
